The Dharma of Love

In this video from the 2020 Depth & Devotion program, a 90-day Virtual Experience in the Art of Sacred Intimacy, John describes why embodiment is such a powerful transformational tool.

You’ll learn:

  • We are practicing transformation at a beautiful inflection point of evolution, uniting Quantum Physics, Yoga, Shamanism, etc.

  • When you move from a place of liberating your past into a new experience, you’re moving from your karma (your past) into some kind of dharma (your future)

  • Karma is not something that happens separate from the body—it is the body

  • Your brain is wired for your habits and karma, both positive and negative

  • Everything that has brought you to this moment—your past, your history, the experiences of your lineage, every thought and feeling you’ve ever had, etc.—all of that is stored in your body

  • New possibilities cannot happen by thinking because the neural pathways are ingrained in your body, and your genes have produced proteins which have created possibilities that have become your habitual actions and behaviors

  • Everything from your reactions to people; your reactions to yourself; your thoughts about yourself; your thoughts about others; your thoughts about intimacy; your thoughts about the world; your thoughts about money; your thoughts about men and women, etc. have been grooving into your body-mind throughout the duration of your life

  • Shifting that is an embodied process

  • When you move your body into a new possibility, and the longer you hold that new possibility in your body, the more new neurons start firing in your brain, new hormones start secreting in your body, and your genes can produce new proteins to create new possibilities for you to be in the world

  • We can call this new possibility The Dharma of Love, or The Dharma of Consciousness

  • This is only possible when you do different things with your body that lead to a new dharma, and not by complaining in the same way you’ve always complained, thinking about how you should breathe, meditate or move more, etc.

  • Every time you move your body into a new state of expression, you are wiring these new possibilities

  • This requires practice, in a same way a master violinist needs to practice in order for the music to pour through them

  • Karmic momentum is real—the body and ego don’t want to let go into this new possibility of being—it’s very hard to install this

  • Your destiny is completely dependent on your capacity to wire these new neural pathways, and turn on these genes that produce new proteins

  • Our bodies want to do their own thing—checkout, numb, disassociate, etc.—so it takes nervous system strength, training and discipline to stay with it and continue in your practice

  • That is how you move out of a karmic destiny that will play out unless you can shift things

  • Deep energy has an incredible transformational potential, and when you expand and extend it, it rewires everything

  • Embodiment practice for 30 minutes or 1 hour per day will physically, emotionally, and chemically change you

You can only become a master violinist by continuing to play the violin. You can only become an artist of love by continuing to create new possibilities of love. And you create those possibilities through embodiment practice.
