Making Our Love Artful
In this video from the 2020 Depth & Devotion Program, a 90-day virtual experience in the Art of Sacred Intimacy, John describes why he believes that consciously committing to making our love artful, moment-to-moment, is the biggest piece of self-responsibility that we can imagine.
You’ll learn:
We have been taught in our society that deep love “just happens”—find “the One” and your life will be an ongoing collage of sunsets, vacations and endless passion
In reality, love is a completely self-generated possibility available moment-to-moment
We are aware of that fact when we take on the practice of making our love artful
It is a profound commitment to make art with love
What you want most deeply—your true heart’s desire—is a gift to yourself, to the world, and to everybody who wants to love you
Part of making art out of your heart’s deepest desire is recognizing your deepest desire
The things that stop you from living towards you true heart’s desire are generally things that were passed down genetically, behaviorally, and emotionally from your parents and society, and are not your fault—these include your fears, shyness, trauma, lack of capacity to express yourself etc.
The trick is in how you make art of those two things: your heart’s deepest desire and the things that stop you from getting that love
If you can make art out of both of those things, the depth and richness of your relationships will amplify tremendously
