Balancing Masculine Rigidity with Feminine Practice

In this short video from the 2020 Embodied Men’s Leadership Training, John asserts that there needs to be an equal amount of Masculine and Feminine practice in men’s work.

You’ll learn:

  • Masculine practice, at its core, is linear and structured; Feminine practice is non-linear, intuitive, and fluid. Masculine practice cultivates consciousness and depth; Feminine practice cultivates energy and expression.

  • Few of us are taught the fundamentals of either practice, so we often start training in the practice that aligns with our essence.

  • Masculine practice involves cultivating structure and emptiness, which is at the essence of consciousness. If you sit in front of your Feminine partner and “hold space” from this place, they may like it at first, but they will eventually crave more energy and expression from you, in order to feel and experience you more fully.

  • It is easy to become rigid in the Masculine, so bringing flow into your life and practice opens more pathways of response and leadership in your relationship.

  • If you have too much flow, then you sacrifice depth, so the balance is vital.

  • The body doesn’t lie, so if you smile and sigh when you experience flow and freedom in your body, then follow the impulse to bring more Feminine practice into your life.

  • The integrated lover is alive and open, while also being grounded with presence & depth at the same time. Most humans swing between these polarities.

  • Ultimately, the deepest, most felt presence is a blend of the Masculine and Feminine; Yin and Yang.
