What Does the Moment Call For? -- Moving Between Your Masculine and Feminine Gifts

In this video from the October 2019 Art of Loving Fiercely intensive, John expresses that we all need a highly developed masculine and feminine - because the world needs both - and ultimately, the best practice is those two parts perfectly entwined, responding moment-to-moment.

The moments will dictate which practices are called for, and your body will know what to do if you stay in the place beyond thought, connected to the pulse of love that wants to come through you.

You’ll also learn:

  • It is healthy for a feminine-identified woman to have a strong masculine capacity, just as it is for a masculine-identified man to have a fully developed feminine. She will often use her masculine to succeed in her career and in the world.

  • It can be painful for someone whose natural essence is feminine to be in a “masculine body” all day long. Some love it, but a lot don’t, and most haven’t been taught or encouraged to embrace and reveal their feminine gifts.

  • John asserts that you should cultivate both your masculine and feminine fully, and then let the moment bring forth the gift most called for.

  • At work, more often than not, your masculine gifts are called for. You might be setting goals, holding space for the company, etc. and so you have to be more structured and directional, unless your work tends to be more intuitive, movement-based, or flow-based.

  • At home, if you want a polarized intimate dynamic with your masculine partner, that would be the moment in which you transition into your feminine through a ritual that feels good to you, such as taking a bath, dancing in your bedroom, singing in the shower, caressing your skin with essential oils, or putting on a piece of clothing that feels pleasurable, like a silk robe. Then you can offer your feminine heart as a gift to your masculine partner because the moment would be brighter if you did.

  • There may be some nights in which you want to fully surrender and let your partner penetrate your heart; and there may be other nights in which you would love to be in charge and your partner would want to surrender their heart to your leadership.

  • The movements that come from the part of you that is infinite consciousness is what John’s teacher David Deida would call the Sacred Masculine, and the ones that come from the part of you that gives and shares love is the Sacred Feminine. Ultimately, the best practice is those two parts perfectly entwined, responding moment-to-moment.
